One second burns for a billion years

Blood Promise

When silence falls
And light remains
And time is born
Beneath the sun
I'll hide your name.
Inside a word
And paint your eyes
With false perception
And I feel your mind
In everything
And every breath
Destroys a sound.
And I will follow
A false sensation.
And I'll always believe.
Your blood promise
And every breath.
I stole from you
And I never will see
Your perfect body
And you never have spoken
An unclear word
And I'll never betray
Your blood promise

I'll drink the moonlight from your hands

Will we survive?

I'll drink the moonlight from your hands
I'll swim an ocean filled with sorrow
No lover please don't go
We can crucify tomorrow
Let the sunlight feed the air
Let it fill our lungs with lies
We'll be memorized by shadows
But our loneliness will survive

I used to make the children happy

Cause people grin when I come round
and kids they call me the bleedin clown
I used to make the children happy
Now little girls cry when they look at me

I'm goin down... down... down...
I'm goin down.

You lef baby you left baby
you left and i'm lonely
You left baby you left baby
you left and i'm lonely

lost, lonely, and vicious

Why are we alive?

Now I'm not a man and I don't feel love
And I don't see anything coming down from above
But this world spins slowly and I see a light
Rising up from behind the horizon up into the clear black sky
But I don't see you in my line of sight
In fact I can't remember why we are alive

can't pronounce your name...

This one goes out to the one I love

This one goes out to the one I love
This one goes out to the one I've left behind
A simple prop to occupy my time
This one goes out to the one I love

The River That Runs With Love Won't Run Dry

White Trash Beautiful

White Trash Beautiful, Trailor Park Queen
She slings hash at the diner from 11 to 5
She married a boy from school, thought he was oh so cool
But all he can do for money is drive
Out late haulin' freight on Interstate 5, prayin' he'll see home before his baby arrive

White Trash Beautiful, There's something you should know
My heart belongs to you
And you coulda found a better guy
I'll love you till the day I die
I swear to God it's true
I'm comin' home to you
I'm comin' home to you girl

White Trash Beautiful, Everlast

a detail

It has no future but itself

Pain has an element of blank;
It cannot recollect
When it began, or if there were
A day when it was not.

It has no future but itself,
Its infinite realms contain
Its past, enlightened to perceive
New periods of pain.

Pain has an element of blank;

lounge fly

Come with me
Into the trees
We'll lay on the grass
And let the hours pass

Take my hand
Come back to the land
Let's get away
Just for one day

Martin Lee Gore - Depeche Mode

blood in our veins

Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.

W. Shakespeare
Hamlet, 2. 2

will you come to me as a fire burning?

we are still alive

will you come to me as an angel
as a man, as someone I've waited for?
will you come to me as a monster in a child's room
as a shadow at the window?
will you come to me as a fire burning
as the end of the world, as a revelation?
will you come to me?

sometimes I feel it's been a long ride
sometimes I think what does it matter
sometimes I'm glad we are still alive
the longer we've made it
the longer we've made it

Our Love Lies

I'll Walk With You

I'll Walk With You
Through Space And Time
And When Sleep Is Near
I Will Fold You In
I'll Disappear With You
In Clear Blue Flames
And When Our Time Arrives
We Will Slide Through Space

Swans, Her

No strings attached

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore.
That long black cloud is comin' down
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

double fragment

Now I'm Breathing The Breath Of God
And The Cold Wind Cleans My Mind
And I'm Standing In A Ring Of Fire
And My Heart Is Made Of Light
And I Fly Across The Red Mountains
And My Hands Contain The Sky
And The Earth Rolls Away In Darkness
And I Ride A Piece Of Lightning
Killing Time
Killing Time

Now They Punish Our Imagination
And Corrupt Our Blood With Fear
And Infinity's Beneath The Ocean
But Oblivion Sits Right Beside Me Here
So We Are Blind And We're Polluted
And Each Breath Is Drunk With Tears
We'll Drift Away Across Tomorrow
And We'll Ride The Breath Of Nothing
Through The Years
Killing Time
Killing Time

Never found our way

For whom it is reserved

Please could you stay awhile to share my grief,
For it's such a lovely day,
To have to always feel this way,
And the time that I will suffer less,
Is when I never have to wake.

Wandering stars,
For whom it is reserved,
The blackness of darkness, forever,
Wandering stars,
For whom it is reserved,
The blackness of darkness, forever.

a room full of emptiness

On a cobweb afternoon
In a room full of emptiness
By a freeway I confess
I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good we'll lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go

In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there

girl (republished)

He who says he is happy lies, and in invoking happiness, sins against it. He alone keeps faith who says: I was happy. The only relation of consciousness to happiness is gratitude: in which lies its incomparable dignity.
Theodor W. Adorno

a tiny baby girl

One day I’ll give birth to a tiny baby girl
and when she’s born she’ll scream
and I’ll tell her to never stop

I will kiss her before I lay her down at night
and will tell her a story so she knows
how it is and how it must be for her to survive

I’ll tell her to set things on fire
and keep them burning
I’ll teach her that fire will not consume her
that she must use it

I’ll tell her that people must earn the right
to use her nickname
that forced intimacy is an ugly thing

I’ll help her to see that she will not find God
or salvation in a dark brick building
built by dead men
